5 Tips For Raising Healthy Kids

As a personal trainer AND mom, teaching my kids to be healthy is very important to me! But it’s also hard!!! Kids are picky eaters at young ages so getting veggies in can be a trick! For me personally, I have 3 kids and they all like totally different things! My daughter loves broccoli, my oldest son likes fruit, and the baby hates both those. My key is starting them out young, but also sneaking those fruits in! We have a daily smoothie with kale and spinach and fruit. Even if they hate veggies, I still win by getting them in their body.

12049250_1048285918538207_3309233857384547622_nHere are some more tips for raising healthy kids:

1) Keep healthy snacks on hand. They won’t eat the junk food if it’s not in the house.

2) Teach them balance, one treat a day type of thing.

3) Give them fruits and veggies, some kids learn to love them!

4) Teach them about foods that are good for us and help us grow.

5) Sneak veggies in if your kids won’t eat them.

Laugh in The Face of Stress

Ever have one of those weeks where just everything that can go wrong, does?!?! ME ME ME!!!! I’m normally a very optimistic person and try and always stay positive, but sometimes it’s just HARD! How do I handle those days?!?! I embrace it and laugh!

12011153_10153235054244576_6227596607985022481_nI know you are probably thinking that is crazy, but sometimes laughter truly is the best medicine! The past two weeks have been crazy insane! My daughter had a health care and our closing date on our house changed FIVE time which opened up a whole new load of problems! For example, our paper work was messed up so we have to pay flood insurance for a year even though we aren’t in a flood zone. We also got told last minute our closing date was changing AGAIN so now we are stuck paying for a Uhaul for a whole week. And we have no help with moving since our new date is the middle of the week! On top of that, I got my son a whole week ahead in his homeschooling to be prepared for our move and thanks to the delays, his school supplies are packed and now he is going to be a week behind!

When that much stuff happens, you can either get upset, or just laugh!!! To me, that is God saying “I’m in charge, stop planning. I know what I am doing.” Everything possible that could go wrong, DID! But it teaches me to stop being so OCD and try and go with the flow. Try and laugh more and remember what is truly important, my healthy family!!! Sure this situation stinks, but I try and not dwell on it!

My key tips for dealing with a bad situation, is talk about, accept you can’t change it, get some exercise, and find the silver lining! For me, I walk daily as it’s exercise but it also is stress relief. I literally feel my stress draining out of me when I’m outside in the beautiful world and moving my body. That’s just me personally, so each person has to find their stress reliever and turn to that in times of trouble.

Stress can eat you alive, make you sick, gain weight, not sleep etc so find good ways to relieve it! Laugh, exercise, and spend time with your friends. It truly helps!!

Christmas Catalog

Christmas is coming!!! For many people that can be a stressful time of the year as you have to find time to SHOP! I don’t know about you, but shopping with 3 kids is no easy task! I’d much rather spend my time making cooking or checking out Christmas lights. And I’m sure many busy Moms are just like me!

christmas catalog 2015Last year I hosted an online event with over 2,000 members to bring Christmas shopping right to your computer! This event was special because not only did it help busy people with their Christmas shopping, but it also encouraged people to shop from small business owners. This year I’m taking it up a notch! Not only will I be hosting the Online Christmas Bazaar starting in November, but I will also be creating a Christmas Catalog filled with products from small business owners!!! My goal is to encourage more and more people to shop from small business owners, instead of a large corporation!

When you shop from a small business owner, you are helping a Mom be able to stay home with her kids. You are helping a family take a vacation. You are enabling parents to start putting money aside for their kids college education. You are helping people not stress about spending extra this Christmas season. It’s so important to help small businesses be successful as that puts more money back into the economy!! I encourage everyone to shop for at least one item from a small business owner this Holiday Season. And encourage your friends and family to do the same.

Our Christmas Catalog will help with that! It will be emailed out to you starting in November and you also have the option to join our online Christmas Bazaar to learn more about the products being offered. To sign up to receive the Christmas Catalog and be notified when the Bazaar is open, go HERE

Want to be listed in our Christmas Catalog???

You can receive a quarter ad, half sheet, or full sheet ad to broadcast your products/business!

You also receive a FREE spot in our Online Christmas Bazaar

Only two reps per company will be allowed

The Christmas Catalog will be shared in multiple groups and on our Facebook Page

Christmas Catalog will be viewed by approximately 15,000 viewers from our website, 40,000 viewers from our Facebook Page, and 10,00 viewers from our Instagram Pinterest and Twitter Followers.

Pyramid Schemes, Scams, Direct Sales And More!

“Are Selling Products A Legit Income??”

I have to say this is one of the most popular questions I get emailed. But the truth is, even I wondered this same thing before getting involved in this business. A few years back, I was approached to join a company, and my instant thought was Pyramid Scheme and scam!! It’s sad that I thought that way, but many people do as unless you are in this business or well educated about it, you just know what you hear. Many of these companies we think are scams, are actually backed by the Better Business Bureau and have been around for many years!!! So today I am going to cover a few of these popular questions, along with how to know if something is legit and the truth about Pyramids.

Is it Legit?!?!
Direct Sales Companies are VERY legit. They are large companies that chose to pay independent contractors to advertise them instead of using TV adds, Billboards, etc. They are actually helping our economy by putting the money in your pockets vs some very large CEO of a TV station. To find out if a company is legit, you can google them or see if they are registered with the Direct Selling Association. You can also read the reviews about the company online, but remember to only take so much away from those. Job’s are like food, each person has a different preference and different experience so expect to see both good and bad reviews.12004772_995077193889412_9133849978607155890_n
How these companies work, is you advertise their products for them and in return they pay you a commission. Each company has a different pay scale, but in my experience the average is between 10-40%. Finding out what they pay is very important before you begin! Direct Sales companies are very smart, they know people are going to share a product they love, and they encourage that sharing by paying you for it. What better advertisement is their than a happy customer?? I would believe my friends love of a product a lot more than I would a celebrity on TV.
The companies usually require a start up fee, and this is what scares most people. They see that fee and instantly think it’s a scam and they are being robbed. But the truth is, MOST jobs have a start up cost such as background check, uniform, training, etc. With direct sales companies, you want to make sure your cost comes with something!!!!! It should include samples for you, catalogs, brochures, products, a website, product discounts, training, etc. The average cost of a start up kit is around $100 and most have ways for you to make that right back by selling the products in your kit. If the cost is very high, with no products for you, think twice before joining and look more into the company!!! Start up costs are also a tax write off!!! It’s a business investment and you get it back at tax time. The IRS knows direct sales companies are a legit way to make an income.

Pyramid Schemes
Pyramid schemes are when one person is on top and makes a lot of money and the people on bottom don’t make hardly anything even though they are doing all the work. These are out there and you want to be careful, but most times they don’t sell any products, more work on just recruiting other people to join. Here are a few signs a company is a Pyramid Scheme and you want to run for the hills.
According to the Direct Selling Association, here is what you should watch for in Pyramid Schemes:
1) Promising lots of money for no work
2) Teaching people to recruit and not sell a product
3) Very large start up costs
4) Not having a product that they sell
5) Having a few people who make a lot of money on top, and a lot of people on the bottom making very little money

Pyramid VS. Direct Sales10573_348288578631716_299887124_n
Now to some people, the direct sales business mirrors a pyramid, but the honest truth is in MOST jobs you do have some people higher up. For example, in the school system you have a Principal on top, then teachers, then par pros, then students. In most direct sales companies, you have someone who has been in the company for awhile on top, then your sponsor, then yourself. The people on the top do usually get paid off your income, but to do so they have to keep themselves active AND they have to help their team members. They get paid for having a team and teaching other people to be successful, just like managers do. Just because some people make more on your team in direct sales, does not mean it’s a Pyramid.

As you can see, direct sales are a great and very real way for people to earn an income. In fact, direct sales companies have been around since the 1920’s! They do get a bad reputation though because of the way some people teach their teams to market. If you do it the right way, you can be very successful, make a great income, and have fun all at the same time!!! My #1 tip to be successful is find a product you love and use, and share it, never sell!!!
