Every day I see a new friend start a work from home job, and before long….they quit! Why??? Starting a business is a huge risk, it’s stressful, it costs money, and it puts your reputation in jeopardy. Why would you do all that and then just quit? I’ll explain some things I’ve learned after being in the work from home industry for over 5 years (and once being one of those quitters).
The number one reason people quit work from home jobs is because they didn’t put in the work. That’s a shocker right? But it’s true! Work from home jobs require you to be the boss and make work time every day, and most people are just not motivated enough! If they are tired, busy, etc then they put their work aside and before long a whole montj goes by and they did nothing! Problem is, most people then blame the company and hop along to another job, instead of just putting in the work needed.
The average person quits a work from home job in the first 90 days of starting it. The most common reason is they didn’t see the income they wanted. And yet the average person working from home works an hour of 1 to 2 hours a day. Hmmmm, so another reason people quit is unrealistic expectations! If you work 10 hours a week, at minimum wage, your income for the week should be approximately $70 Per week. Or $280 for a month. Yet most people work way less hours and want way more income! Unrealistic, you have to put in work to get paid.
Work from home jobs are also a lot harder. If they were easy and paid millions right away, then everyone would do them! But the truth is they are much harder! They take time, a good work ethic, and a no quit attitude! Something many people lack nowadays. Most successful businesses take an average of 5 years to build. In the scheme of working full time from when you are 22 to 65 (average age of retirement), that’s 48 years!! I don’t know about you, but is much rather work hard for 5 years then 48! And each person is different! I achieved 5 figures a paycheck after less than a year and a half, while working 5-10 hours a week…simply because I am very consistent and refuse to quit!
Another problem with quitting is it jeopardized your reputation for another business. I see it all the time! People jump from company to company, and I know it’s cause they didn’t put in the work because many of those company have amazing products and compensation plan. It makes people not trust you, and definitely nervous to partner with you as their leader. What if they get started and you abandon them?? Think of it like this, if you sell insurance and tell your friends it’s the best ever, so they buy! Then you switch to another company, and say it’s the best. Then switch to another! You lose their trust and their business. Before switching companies, always make sure to give it enough time, make sure YOU are putting in the work, and do the trainings! Most companies have a training plan available.
At the end of the day, it usually comes down to how much you are treating a work from home business, as a JOB! Of course some companies are truly bad, but don’t worry, the Federal Trade Commission is going after those! The main reason people quit is because they think the grass is greener somewhere else. Nope! The grass is greener where you water it! I’m happy with my company and earn a 6 figure income, but I also know friends in other companies earning the same. Its all about how much you water your grass as to how tall it’s going to go. Don’t quit, just work harder!!
