Are mornings crazy in your house?? They are in mine! Do you struggle to find a healthy breakfast for your kids?? Three words: Banana Chocolate Muffins.

Mornings are crazy in my house. My husband works weird hours and normally by the time he gets home we have all been at the park for an hour. So breakfast for my 5, 3 and 1 year old falls all on me, and I’m not exactly a morning person. Plus when my baby wakes up, he wants me to hold him. And he wakes up usually around 6:30am so not much time for me to cook. I’m a very healthy eater myself so giving my kids high sugar foods for breakfast is just not something I do. And thus began the search for some good breakfast options for them as we all know kids are picky eaters.

This is my favorite!!! Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins!!! They use greek yogurt, oats, and bananas so the kids are getting good foods plus those chocolate chips help them to think they are eating a dessert. Mom approved, and loved by kids!! I bake a big batch once a month and put them in the freezer. That way during the crazy mornings, I can pop them in the microwave for 30 seconds and breakfast is served. Oh, and these all make a great evening snack when that chocolate craving comes on!

Being Happy

People tell me all the time that I am Supermom and have it all together and am such a positive happy person. The truth is, no one has it all together!!! We all have problems and issues and stressful days where we think about locking ourselves in the bathroom with a giant bag of chocolate. But the difference is, I don’t dwell on the bad and always try to find positive things. In every situation, you can find something good….sometimes you just have to look REALLY hard!

79388541_oI make sure that I present a positive and happy attitude as much as I can. Its not pretend for me, its who I choose to be!! I like to show my kids, friends, and clients that life is what you make it and I chose to love life, smile, be happy and enjoy each day. Yes my floor needs to be mopped and I forgot the laundry in the washing machine again, but I’m not stressed, I have happy kids, and my heart is full!! That’s what life is truly about!!

Tips For Happiness

  • Don’t dwell on things you can’t change. If a problem arises, work out a way to solve it, and if you can’t just move on.
  • Find time to laugh, move and have fun daily. My kids and I love to have random “Dance Parties” where we just bust out in wild moves. It reminds me to enjoy the small things and not to take myself too seriously.
  • Look for the positive in every situation. This can be tough sometimes, but if you look hard enough you can find something.
  • Don’t get involved in drama. This is a big one for me. I don’t do drama of any type as life is too short. If I know two friends are having issues, I let them work it out and I don’t take sides or get involved. Its important to always remember there are THREE sides to every story, person 1’s side, person 2’s side, and the truth. I learned a long time ago from a personal experience where I was attached by someone else who THOUGHT they knew the story, that its VERY hard for that to be forgotten or the relationship to be repaired. Plus, each person reacts differently to situations and all of us have different feelings. So something that I might find trivial, might be heartbreaking for someone else. Drama free is the way to be!
  • Start each day with God Time. I’m a very busy Mom, but I do a devotional every morning and it helps keep me in the right mind set.
  • Get some sunshine! Vitamin D is needed to keep you happy and without it, people can become depressed. During the warm months, my kids and I play outside daily!
  • Exercise!! Exercises releases endorphins and endorphins make you happy. My whole day is better and I’m a much more patient Mom after an early morning workout.
  • Have a plan for stressful situations. This really helps me not to stress over things as I usually have a plan when a situation arises. We are currently packing to move from VA to GA and I’m honestly not as stressed as people think I should be haha. I made a list for each area of my house to be packed and cleaned each day and that helps me know I’m on track and stress in not needed.

Remember, life is short and your kids need you to be present for them. Not dwelling on things you can’t change. Let the bad stuff (and people!) go and focus on the good. You will be amazed at how much more peaceful you feel!!!

Finding Balance

11150407_10152881528944576_2738157974536688199_nWhen people see that I work from home, they often think I have it all together and am “Supermom”. Well, sorry to burst some bubbles, but that is totally false!!! I’m like every single person out there, struggling to accomplish it all and some days forgetting to brush my teeth!! Most days I don’t wear an ounce of makeup (except mascara!!), am in gym clothes, and run around all day long. I have days where I feel super overwhelmed and think I have way too much on my plate. And its moments like that I have to take a step back and remember what is most important.

I have three healthy, beautiful, smart children!!! I get to spend all day, every day, with them!!! Working from home has helped my family tremendously, I’ve paid off my school loans and my SUV (HUGE happy dance from that this week)! I have so much to be thankful for!!! So the laundry might only get done once a week, the grass needed to be cut two weeks ago, and my wardrobe only includes gym clothes. But who cares!!! I’m always been very OCD, but slowly and surely, I’m learning to go with the flow a bit more.

11026588_10152886604509576_8022368932152025326_nBalance is still something I struggle with. My husband works a weird shift so really only has one full day off right now. The funny thing is, that doesn’t bother me. The kids and I are always on the go as we FINALLY live in an area where we have stuff to do! I can run errands, take them to the park, go for hikes with my aunt, we have fun stuff to do everyday!!! I don’t think we have been bored once since we moved to GA. It’s a freeing feeling to have options and not be stuck in the house all day!!

The only negative has been my work. I’ve been so busy with the kids, and my husband’s schedule is different, the time to “work” I had each day has changed. At first I got stressed. I have worked hard to build my business and to make an income from home. But then I remembered why I was working, to help my family!!! We have paid off so much debt, and now my income goes directly towards my kids college funds!!!! That’s an amazing feeling in itself to accomplish that while being home with my kids each day. For many people, my family included, money can be stressful and to remove that issue has been a huge weight off my husband and I’s shoulders.

I’m sticking more to a schedule to help with the work time I have. I get up early and that’s my exercise time. I also use that time to make my “to-do” list for the day. On that list I make sure to include the most important items, and the ones that can be done that day, or another day. That’s a huge help with keeping me on track and making sure I accomplish what HAS to be done each day.

The truth is, most people do NOT have it all figured out. We all struggle with getting things done and prioritizing. For me, the number one priority is my kids. I want them to be able to do after school activities, take fun family vacations, and go to college. So on the days I feel stressed, I remember my goals are for them and that reminds me to take a step back, figure out a new way to achieve balance, and when all else fails, go swing at the park. Because sunshine and the laugher of my kids reminds me of the important things in life!!

Making Money Fast

how to make moneyMany work from home jobs are about building your own business and brand. But what do you do when you need money right away and don’t have time for business building?? That is a question I hear a lot lately so lets talk about what to do, and what NOT to do when you need money quickly.

WHAT TO DO:

*Find a job that is hiring right away and pays well. This might mean you need to do a customer service job and be on the phone all day, but if you are desperate for money, this is a guaranteed income!!!

*Look where you can make costs. Sit down and go over your bills. See if any will put you on a lower payment plan or if you can make cuts. Say bye- bye to expensive cable and crazy phone packages. Mot libraries and cafes have free internet you can use until you can afford more.

*Cut back on groceries! Find cheaper foods and snacks to eat, skip the extras like desserts and sodas and snacks you just munch on. Go meatless a few nights a week and have a soup and sandwich night.

*Don’t eat out or buy extras. If you don’t NEED it, don’t buy it!

*Shop at cheaper stores such as Costco, Sams, and Aldis. Use coupons for household items.

*If you own a business such as a direct sales company, utilize that!! Ask friends and family members to host parties, sample your products, or look for local events you can attend. Focus on selling products or recruiting, whichever brings in more income quickly.

  • Use multiple sources of social media to reach more people
  • Find out if you can advertise in local groups for your area
  • Offer deals such as free shipping for bulk orders or a small percentage off
  • Check out other social media websites for mom’s to grow your business reach
  • Get together with other direct sales ladies in your areas for a LARGE in home event where you all invite friends

****Focus on ways that will bring you income quickly and make sure you devote time to it daily. Be honest with yourself about your work and make sure you are doing all you can to get ahead. Once you get ahead, start focusing on a residual income so you aren’t scrapping over and over every month****

WHAT NOT TO DO:

*Don’t start a NEW business- this often requires a start up cost and even though many people SAY you can make it back quickly, not everyone can and that can put you further in the hole. Now if it’s a business where you can sell the products in your kit, that might be a good option!

*Don’t spend money- this includes any advertising, start up costs, website fees etc. If you need money badly, you need to focus on ways that will bring in an income. YES most businesses costs money, but don’t spend if you don’t have it. That just puts you further in debt.

*Focus on immediate returns. Building a website takes a lot of time and money so put that on your back burner as its harder to build up a following.

Ways To Make Money Fast:make money fast

*Sell baked goods. Everyone loves some homemade cookies, fudge and brownies and are happy to pay for it.

*Plasma, hair, breast milk, women’s eggs, and men’s sperm: All these things can be sold to clinics and places for income for yourself. For plasma, you can donate twice a week for $35 each time. For selling your eggs, you are required to past screening tests and do at home hormone shots for a month, but they pay is around $7,000.

*Bake meals for others and charge. Many people have to eat out due to busy schedules but would much prefer if they could buy a homemade and have it delivered. Advertise on your facebook or a local facebook group for your area.

*Offer to baby sit kids, pets, or homes. You can also register yourself on http://www.care.com

*Make crafts that you can sell. Such as front door wreaths, crochet items, signs for kids rooms and much more. You can check out http://www.etsy.com for ideas and to start your own shop!

*Sell stuff: You can use craigslist, ebay, and online facebook yard sale sites. Or have a garage sale.

*Recycle scrap metal. Contact your local scrap yard for prices.

*Rent out a room in your house. Make sure to have a rental agreement and research the person you offer the space too!

*Review music online with Slicethepie http://www.slicethepie.com/

In my personal opinion, building your own business is the best income option when working from home, but that does require time and money. And usually the time frame for that is between 6 months – 2 years. Make sure you are devoting time each day to your goals, keeping a list of what needs to be done, and setting priorities when it comes to where you spend your money and time. Building a business is hard in the beginning, but the pay off is well worth it! For ideas on businesses you can do from home, visit our Work From Home Directory! For A Love Of Jewelry

oopicsBefore having children, I was the QUEEN of accessories. I’m talking at least 5 different pairs of earnings for each color possible, and of course necklaces, bracelets, rings, purses etc to match everything. My friends use to joke and say they need to go shop at “Dana’s Closet” whenever they needed an outfit for a fun event. I might have had a small obsession with shopping haha. Once my oldest son was born, I traded those necklaces for burp clothes. The long dangling earrings were replaced with pearl studs. The fancy purses in all different colors were packed away in place of one diaper bag. It was a whole new world and I loved it!!!! I didn’t miss the accessories as having a babies arms around my neck were far more precious!

unnamed (2)Five years later, and now 3 kids, I still wear very few accessories. I learned the hard way that getting your earrings yanked out is not a fun experience haha. Especially since my youngest who is 8 months LOVES pulling on my hair and ears all the time. But I still enjoy having a few pieces of jewelry so when I was approached by one of my friends to try out her bracelets from Origami Owl, I was overjoyed at the opportunity!!!! Bracelets are one item I have found I can get away with and actually they serve a double purpose as they can keep kids entertained too haha!!!

The first thing that impressed me about Origami Owl was how cute all their packaging was! It arrived in adorable little boxes and each piece was separate so I could choose what to use and when. For those who aren’t familiar with Origami Owl, they are a company that has locket based items such as necklaces and bracelets, but they have also expanded and have other great jewelry items! What I love is you can design your own locket and fill it with things special to you. Such as your kids birthstones, or your favorite sports or hobbies. The lockets can be used as a necklace or a bracelet too!origami-owl

I got the bracelet myself and love it! My friend Liane also sent me a second option, which is great too! I love the wrap bracelet, how fun and stylish it is, and that I have more than one option with how to use it!! I can also get more charms and change them out whenever I want. How cool is that?!?! This is perfect for Moms like myself who love jewelry, but needs items that are kids friendly. Another thought I had is these are GREAT for grandparents too! How fun for a grandmother to get a necklace or bracelet with all her kids birthstones in it! I know I have searched for items like that before and they are hard to find. Especially to find ones that are cute like this and where birthstones can be added as the family grows!Core-Collection-Bracelets-origami-owl

If you are a jewelry lover, I highly suggest giving these cute products a look! Liane is wonderful to chat with and she has a lot of opportunities to help you earn free jewelry, or get started in this business!!! Jewelry is one of those items that people are always going to like, and the compensation plan for this company is very generous! Here are the things I thought were awesome about this companies business plan:

*You earn 30-50% commission on product sales (that’s a high commission which is AWESOME!)

*You get paid weekly on FridaysPicture2

*You can host parties online

*You can do events

*You can do home parties (see all these great options?!?!)

*Leaders earn 4%-15% of their team sales (that’s a good bonus!)

*Company is open in United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico

*You can earn your own free products

*Children at the age of 12 can join with their parents. This right here is something I have never seen before and such a fabulous idea! I know when I was a child, I was big into being a business owner and earning money, but there are so few options!! With these, the kids partner with their parent and can make money by creating jewelry!!

These products are not only gorgeous and so much fun, but this is a great way for us busy Moms to make an extra dollar! Please check out Lianes page and let her know if you have any questions. She is so wonderful and VERY helpful! Thanks Liane for these wonderful bracelets and for introducing me to Origami Owl!
